However, shrimp and prawns are in fact completely different. They’re decapods, that’s why they all have 10 legs and external skeletons. But prawns’ scientific name is Dendrobranchiata, while shrimp’s scientific name is Pleocyemata. They belong to different decapod suborders.

The pasta will take about 3 to 5 minutes to cook through.

Check the pasta if it’s al dente, then strain thoroughly to drain out the excess water. Add the cooked pasta to the frying pan with shrimp and scampi sauce. Stir the pasta to get it coated in the sauce evenly, add some fresh basil. Transfer the pasta with shrimp scampi to a medium size bowl. Add grated Parmesan cheese on top of the dish for garnishing.

Notes when processing Shrimp Scampi

We need to remove a line going through the shrimp’s back. These are called veins or sand veins. The veins of Scampi shrimp are not harmful to the body but are quite difficult to eat, so you have to remove them when preparing. Take a small, sharp knife and thread it into the back of the shrimp, cut a vertical line to the tail of the shrimp. And if you find it difficult, you can ask the shrimp seller to do it for you right when you go to buy shrimp.

Besides, do not overcook Scampi shrimp. Many people think that overcooking shrimp will increase the flavor of the dish. But overcooking shrimp both loses nutrients in shrimp and makes shrimp meat hard, tough, and less attractive. You should choose shrimp as soon as the thickest part of the shrimp turns pink and looks cloudy.

According to experts, another trick to avoid overcooking shrimp is to keep an eye on the shrimp. When the shrimp is cooked, the shrimp will form a “C” shape. If the shrimp is overcooked, the shrimp will curl into an “O” shape. You can keep these things in mind during the processing to get a delicious dish.

That’s all you need to know about Gordon Ramsay Shrimp Scampi in 10 minutes. After just 10 or 15 minutes of cooking, you’ll have your own dish of super creamy and mouth-watering Shrimp Scampi. Although this dish doesn’t require much cooking skills and the preparation is quite simple. Shrimp scampi will blow you away with its outstanding deliciousness.
